Devotion for Wednesday, April 10, 2019

“My soul cleaves to the dust; revive me according to Your word. I have
told of my ways, and You have answered me; teach me Your statutes. Make me
understand the way of Your precepts, so I will meditate on Your wonders.” (Psalm
119:25-27)

Walking in this world is walking
with death all around us. This world is already condemned; but the Savior came
not to condemn the world, but that there may be life. The Lord offers
understanding to those who come to Him. He will lift up the countenance of
those who trust Him. Come to the Lord and lean not on your own understanding but
see that He is Good and merciful.

Lord, I want to cling to You but my hands are weak and I lose my grip. You
have promised to hold onto me. Never let me go for I need You to be the One who
holds on. What I desire is from weak flesh, but what You promise is from
eternity. Guide me, O Lord, in the way of truth that I would be held in Your
presence now and forever. Teach me to meditate upon Your wonders.

Lord Jesus, You have come because
You know we need You to save us. A Savior would not have come if we did not
need to be saved. Lead me, O Lord, in the way You know I need to go. Guide me
according to Your grace and mercy that I would now and always walk in the way
You have established. Help me to learn to meditate upon Your goodness and the
wonders You have created. Amen.

Devotion for Tuesday, April 9, 2019

“Even though princes sit and talk against me, Your servant meditates on
Your statutes. Your testimonies also are my delight; they are my counselors.” (Psalm
119:23-24)

Does it really matter what others say? Even though they be powerful people in this world, what can they do? Do not fear the one who can destroy the body, but the One who can destroy body and soul. Meditate upon the Word of the Lord. Learn the way of the Lord, for it is the way of life. God’s Word is a Counselor, for this is One of His names, “Mighty Counselor.”  Trust always in the Lord.

Lord, I hear these words and I know in my mind that they are true but
my heart fears. Though I say I do not fear death, I do not want pain and
misery. Take my heart from where it is to the place that no matter what happens
around me I may know that You are God and worthy of all honor and praise. Lead
me, O Lord, into the eternal truth You have spoken through Your statutes.

Lord Jesus, I need the Spirit
which You breathed upon Your disciples. I need the guidance and ability that
only You can give. Though ten thousand fall round about me, let it not be me
who falls. I speak not of the death of this body, but of the faith You have
given me by grace. Lead me ever deeper to abide in You, who is Lord of lords
and King of kings, that I may share in Your everlasting life. Amen.

Devotion for Monday, April 8, 2019

“My soul is crushed with longing after Your ordinances at all times. You
rebuke the arrogant, the cursed, who wander from Your commandments. Take away
reproach and contempt from me, for I observe Your testimonies.” (Psalm
119:20-22)

There is that certain something
within us all when we cross the line and do what is not right in the sight of
the Lord. One can crush this feeling, this something that is there to guide us,
or one can embrace the Holy Spirit and learn to listen as the Spirit speaks. Come
into the presence of the Lord and learn to obey all that has been commanded. The
Lord leads those who trust in Him.

Lord, You know the inner struggle that goes on within me. Take away
from me the rebellion that will not listen to You that I may grow in the
likeness of Christ. Guide me according to Your never-failing Word that I may
learn from You how to be merciful, kind, gracious and all of the other
attributes which are Yours which You intend to implant in the faithful. Lead me,
O Lord, according to Your purpose.

Holy Spirit, come and minister to
my heart that I would forever live the way You intend me to live. You are the
potter and I am the clay. Guide me into Your goodness that I would now and
forever live out the purpose for which You created me. Do not allow any
hindrances to bar the way of my becoming like Christ that I may fulfill Your
perfect will. Take away any reproach and contempt in my heart that I may obey
Your will. Amen.

Devotion for Sunday, April 7, 2019

“Deal bountifully with Your servant, that I may live and keep Your
word. Open my eyes, that I may behold wonderful things from Your law. I am a
stranger in the earth; do not hide Your commandments from me.” (Psalm
119:17-19)

If we live by faith, we know
that this life is short and temporary. We are in the midst of being made new in
the image of Christ. Live to keep the Word and you will become like Christ. This
is so simple to see, if even hard to do. Trust in the Lord and He will open
your eyes to see the truth of the revelation which has always been before you. We
are all pilgrims and strangers upon this earth.

Lord, open my eyes to see more clearly the path upon which You have set
me. Guide me according to Your commandments that I may abide in You as You
abide in me. You are the Creator of all things and You know what You are doing.
Keep me from trusting in myself that I would trust in You always. Lead me, O
Lord, according to Your goodness that I may learn to abide in Your promises.

Lord Jesus, You have called us to
join with You through the cross and prepare for the coming resurrection. Lead
me, O Lord, in the way You know I need to go that I would follow You step by
step through this journey of faith. Guide me to live according to the
never-changing word which has been declared that I may now and forever live
into the promise of salvation which You have made possible. Amen.

Devotion for Saturday, April 6, 2019

“I will meditate on Your precepts and regard Your ways. I shall delight
in Your statutes; I shall not forget Your word.” (Psalm 119:15-16)

Meditation is something that is foreign to our modern hurry up and check it out on the internet society. Meditation takes time. It takes time for coming to the place where you clear your mind to think upon what it is that you are meditating. You cannot delight in what you do not love. You cannot love unless you invest yourself. Come, invest in the things of the Lord and meditate upon His statutes.

Lord, in this world there are so many distractions. I am constantly
barraged with things coming at me all the day long. Teach me to clear my mind
and come into Your presence. Guide me according to Your perfect will to see
that only in You is there hope and a future. Teach me Your statutes that I may
meditate upon Your goodness and mercy and learn more each day what You intend.

Holy Spirit, You know where I am
clouded in my thinking. Guide me into the presence of the Father through
meditation. Lead me to see in the truth of Your word the hope You give to all
who believe. Guide me this day that I may meditate upon the truth You have
revealed and walk in the way of salvation. Through the grace I need, lift up my
countenance to walk humbly in Your guidance. Amen.

Devotion for Friday, April 5, 2019

“Blessed are You, O Lord; teach me Your statutes. With my lips I have
told of all the ordinances of Your mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of Your
testimonies, as much as in all riches.” (Psalm 119:12-14)

To be blessed is to have worked
through what is before you. The Lord is blessed because He is the Maker of
heaven and earth. It is no light thing to speak of the blessings of the Lord. He
who created all things has come into our midst and is now blessing those who
are growing into the image of Christ. Come into His presence with praise and
thanksgiving, sharing with others the blessing of the Lord.

Lord, I often think in terms of what I desire. I think that blessings
are just dispensed and that all I need do is accept what You offer. Teach me, O
Lord, through the hard work of learning to obey all that You command, to
recognize the blessings that come through this hard work. Let my life be a
living testimony of Your goodness and mercy. You are Lord and worthy of all
honor and praise.

Lord Jesus, You have called me
into the blessing of being Your follower. Guide me this day that I may learn
more of what You have always intended for me. May I learn from You what
obedience means and the ways in which I can learn to serve You. Guide me, my
Lord and Savior, in the way of life that leads to life everlasting. Help me
grow my testimony of You and Your presence. Amen.

Devotion for Thursday, April 4, 2019

“How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your
word. With all my heart I have sought You; do not let me wander from Your
commandments. Your word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin
against You.” (Psalm 119:9-11)

The Lord is good and has given
us the proper boundaries that govern how life is to be lived. Remain within the
boundaries of the Lord – His commandments – and you will remain in the place of
safety. Wander beyond the borders and there will be trouble. Keep the Lord’s
Word and you will know the safety and security of the godly life. Remain in His
covenant and live in the goodness of the Lord.

Lord, this world is filled with trials and travails. Guide me through
the morass of sin that fills this world to learn how to keep Your statutes. You
have provided all that is needed, most especially Your grace to enable me to
journey through this life and remain in Your goodness. Help me, O Lord, to seek
first Your kingdom and righteousness knowing that all else that is needed will
be provided.

Lord Jesus, You have come to set
the captives free. Free me from the bondage of sin which is death. Guide me
along right paths for Your name’s sake that I would grow in grace and abound in
Your likeness. Do not let me wander from You, but hold me close now and
forever. May my heart be turned toward You in all things and my actions reflect
Your presence in my life. Amen.

Devotion for Wednesday, April 3, 2019

“I shall give thanks to You with uprightness of heart, when I learn
Your righteous judgments. I shall keep Your statutes; do not forsake me utterly!”
(Psalm 119:7-8)

This world is difficult. All
around are those who do not practice the righteousness of the Lord. The
infection of disobedience seeps into our soul and we too forget His goodness
and practice what we ought not to do. Do not go the way of the world, for You
have been called to the higher life of righteousness that is found in the Lord.
Come to Him and weather this age for His goodness and mercy.

Lord, do not forget me nor keep far from me Your benefits. Keep me on
the narrow path of salvation that I may live into the likeness of Christ. Guide
me according to Your goodness that I may practice Your righteousness and hold
Your law close to my heart. Teach me to be thankful in every situation knowing
that only in You is life and liberty to be found, for You alone are good.

Lord Jesus, You have come to lead
the way for as many as would follow. Grant that my desire to follow You would
be supported by the Holy Spirit to put my thoughts and words into action. Guide
me, O Lord, in the way You have established that I may now and always live
according to the never-failing plan of the Father. Teach me Your statutes and
help me to learn how to always obey them. Amen.

Devotion for Tuesday, April 2, 2019

“You have ordained Your precepts, that we should keep them diligently. Oh
that my ways may be established to keep Your statutes! Then I shall not be
ashamed when I look upon all Your commandments.” (Psalm 119:4-6)

What is it to be ordained? Is it
nothing less than simply to obey the command of the Lord? If you desire for
your ways to be established, then walk in the way of the Lord. Know that He is
God and He has established His eternal purpose. Know that only in Him is there
life and liberty. Walk in the way of the Lord and you shall be with Him
forever. Know that He alone is good and worthy of being followed.

Lord, I look at the ways of the world and follow them. I look at the
laws of the land and live within their edicts. Yet, I often ignore your laws. Help
me, O Lord, to see through this haze to love Your law. Help me to learn
to keep Your precepts that I might be formed into the image of Christ my
Savior. Help me to live a life that is not ashamed of all the benefits of Your
law and its goodness.

Lord Jesus, You know how difficult
this world is. Lead me to see in You the hope of glory and the way of
everlasting life. Guide me day by day to see more clearly the hope of eternity.
Let me never forget the benefits of what You established from the beginning. Walk
with me this day, Lord Jesus, and lead me according to the perfect will of the
Father. Amen.

Devotion for Monday, April 1, 2019

“How blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of
the Lord. How blessed are those who observe His testimonies, who seek Him with
all their heart. They also do no unrighteousness; they walk in His ways.” (Psalm
119:1-3)

In a world with mixed values,
how are you walking? Is it a mix of what the world teaches and what the Lord
says? You are blessed if you walk out of the fog of this world’s thinking and
come into the truth that is eternal. Walk in the law of the Lord, for He is
good and His love endures forever. Do your good works give a testimony on how
you live that it is in the way of the Lord and His law?

Lord, help me to see through the obstacles put in the way by this world. Lead me into Your light that You have given from the beginning of all things. Lead me according to Your goodness to see that only by walking in the way You have established is there goodness and mercy. Help me to walk in the way of righteousness that I may know the life to which You have called me to live now and forever.

Holy Spirit, minister to my heart
that I may see the light and walk in it. Keep me from stumbling in the darkness
of this world that I may learn righteous living. Lift up my countenance that I
may learn from You in every circumstance the way that leads to eternal life. Now
and forever, bring me to abide in the goodness of the law which has been
revealed from the beginning. Lead me by Your grace to increase in righteousness.
Amen.
