Devotion for Saturday, May 24, 2025

“Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming” (Matthew 24:42).

The only day that we have ever been given to live through is today.  Tomorrow will have its own issues.  Do not be like some who become anxious thinking the end is here.  It will come for us all like a thief in the night when we have our turn to sleep in death before the great and terrible day.  Live each day expectantly, for the Lord is with us always.  When it is time, the end of the age will come for us all.  Live then, today, for the Lord of life will come someday.

Lord, all things are in Your hands.  You Who wonderfully knit me in my mother’s womb have called me to journey with You by faith.  In that call, You have guided me according to the word which You have spoken.  Lead me now and always in the truth of the faith which has been delivered by You once for all.  You are the Good News of salvation.  Lead me ever deeper into this salvation which You have given.

Lord Jesus, You are the way, truth, and life.  Through You alone is there hope and an eternal future.  Guide me beyond the pitfalls of this life to learn how to live faithfully.  Lead me in the way which You have spoken so that I may live this life You have given me, being always ready for Your return.  You know the plans the Father has for me.  Guide me so that I live according to His eternal plan.  Amen.
