Devotion for Saturday, April 6, 2019

“I will meditate on Your precepts and regard Your ways. I shall delight
in Your statutes; I shall not forget Your word.” (Psalm 119:15-16)

Meditation is something that is foreign to our modern hurry up and check it out on the internet society. Meditation takes time. It takes time for coming to the place where you clear your mind to think upon what it is that you are meditating. You cannot delight in what you do not love. You cannot love unless you invest yourself. Come, invest in the things of the Lord and meditate upon His statutes.

Lord, in this world there are so many distractions. I am constantly
barraged with things coming at me all the day long. Teach me to clear my mind
and come into Your presence. Guide me according to Your perfect will to see
that only in You is there hope and a future. Teach me Your statutes that I may
meditate upon Your goodness and mercy and learn more each day what You intend.

Holy Spirit, You know where I am
clouded in my thinking. Guide me into the presence of the Father through
meditation. Lead me to see in the truth of Your word the hope You give to all
who believe. Guide me this day that I may meditate upon the truth You have
revealed and walk in the way of salvation. Through the grace I need, lift up my
countenance to walk humbly in Your guidance. Amen.

Devotion for Friday, April 5, 2019

“Blessed are You, O Lord; teach me Your statutes. With my lips I have
told of all the ordinances of Your mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of Your
testimonies, as much as in all riches.” (Psalm 119:12-14)

To be blessed is to have worked
through what is before you. The Lord is blessed because He is the Maker of
heaven and earth. It is no light thing to speak of the blessings of the Lord. He
who created all things has come into our midst and is now blessing those who
are growing into the image of Christ. Come into His presence with praise and
thanksgiving, sharing with others the blessing of the Lord.

Lord, I often think in terms of what I desire. I think that blessings
are just dispensed and that all I need do is accept what You offer. Teach me, O
Lord, through the hard work of learning to obey all that You command, to
recognize the blessings that come through this hard work. Let my life be a
living testimony of Your goodness and mercy. You are Lord and worthy of all
honor and praise.

Lord Jesus, You have called me
into the blessing of being Your follower. Guide me this day that I may learn
more of what You have always intended for me. May I learn from You what
obedience means and the ways in which I can learn to serve You. Guide me, my
Lord and Savior, in the way of life that leads to life everlasting. Help me
grow my testimony of You and Your presence. Amen.

Devotion for Thursday, April 4, 2019

“How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your
word. With all my heart I have sought You; do not let me wander from Your
commandments. Your word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin
against You.” (Psalm 119:9-11)

The Lord is good and has given
us the proper boundaries that govern how life is to be lived. Remain within the
boundaries of the Lord – His commandments – and you will remain in the place of
safety. Wander beyond the borders and there will be trouble. Keep the Lord’s
Word and you will know the safety and security of the godly life. Remain in His
covenant and live in the goodness of the Lord.

Lord, this world is filled with trials and travails. Guide me through
the morass of sin that fills this world to learn how to keep Your statutes. You
have provided all that is needed, most especially Your grace to enable me to
journey through this life and remain in Your goodness. Help me, O Lord, to seek
first Your kingdom and righteousness knowing that all else that is needed will
be provided.

Lord Jesus, You have come to set
the captives free. Free me from the bondage of sin which is death. Guide me
along right paths for Your name’s sake that I would grow in grace and abound in
Your likeness. Do not let me wander from You, but hold me close now and
forever. May my heart be turned toward You in all things and my actions reflect
Your presence in my life. Amen.

Devotion for Wednesday, April 3, 2019

“I shall give thanks to You with uprightness of heart, when I learn
Your righteous judgments. I shall keep Your statutes; do not forsake me utterly!”
(Psalm 119:7-8)

This world is difficult. All
around are those who do not practice the righteousness of the Lord. The
infection of disobedience seeps into our soul and we too forget His goodness
and practice what we ought not to do. Do not go the way of the world, for You
have been called to the higher life of righteousness that is found in the Lord.
Come to Him and weather this age for His goodness and mercy.

Lord, do not forget me nor keep far from me Your benefits. Keep me on
the narrow path of salvation that I may live into the likeness of Christ. Guide
me according to Your goodness that I may practice Your righteousness and hold
Your law close to my heart. Teach me to be thankful in every situation knowing
that only in You is life and liberty to be found, for You alone are good.

Lord Jesus, You have come to lead
the way for as many as would follow. Grant that my desire to follow You would
be supported by the Holy Spirit to put my thoughts and words into action. Guide
me, O Lord, in the way You have established that I may now and always live
according to the never-failing plan of the Father. Teach me Your statutes and
help me to learn how to always obey them. Amen.

Devotion for Tuesday, April 2, 2019

“You have ordained Your precepts, that we should keep them diligently. Oh
that my ways may be established to keep Your statutes! Then I shall not be
ashamed when I look upon all Your commandments.” (Psalm 119:4-6)

What is it to be ordained? Is it
nothing less than simply to obey the command of the Lord? If you desire for
your ways to be established, then walk in the way of the Lord. Know that He is
God and He has established His eternal purpose. Know that only in Him is there
life and liberty. Walk in the way of the Lord and you shall be with Him
forever. Know that He alone is good and worthy of being followed.

Lord, I look at the ways of the world and follow them. I look at the
laws of the land and live within their edicts. Yet, I often ignore your laws. Help
me, O Lord, to see through this haze to love Your law. Help me to learn
to keep Your precepts that I might be formed into the image of Christ my
Savior. Help me to live a life that is not ashamed of all the benefits of Your
law and its goodness.

Lord Jesus, You know how difficult
this world is. Lead me to see in You the hope of glory and the way of
everlasting life. Guide me day by day to see more clearly the hope of eternity.
Let me never forget the benefits of what You established from the beginning. Walk
with me this day, Lord Jesus, and lead me according to the perfect will of the
Father. Amen.

Devotion for Monday, April 1, 2019

“How blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of
the Lord. How blessed are those who observe His testimonies, who seek Him with
all their heart. They also do no unrighteousness; they walk in His ways.” (Psalm
119:1-3)

In a world with mixed values,
how are you walking? Is it a mix of what the world teaches and what the Lord
says? You are blessed if you walk out of the fog of this world’s thinking and
come into the truth that is eternal. Walk in the law of the Lord, for He is
good and His love endures forever. Do your good works give a testimony on how
you live that it is in the way of the Lord and His law?

Lord, help me to see through the obstacles put in the way by this world. Lead me into Your light that You have given from the beginning of all things. Lead me according to Your goodness to see that only by walking in the way You have established is there goodness and mercy. Help me to walk in the way of righteousness that I may know the life to which You have called me to live now and forever.

Holy Spirit, minister to my heart
that I may see the light and walk in it. Keep me from stumbling in the darkness
of this world that I may learn righteous living. Lift up my countenance that I
may learn from You in every circumstance the way that leads to eternal life. Now
and forever, bring me to abide in the goodness of the law which has been
revealed from the beginning. Lead me by Your grace to increase in righteousness.
Amen.

Devotion for Sunday, March 31, 2019

“You are my God, and I give thanks to You; You are my God, I extol You.
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His lovingkindness is
everlasting.” (Psalm 118:28-29)

My Lord and my God, is what
Thomas said. His testimony is our testimony. Let the presence of the Lord forever
be in the center of your life. Be thankful for all the benefits that come by
being in relationship with the Lord. Know that He Who is forever is the only
One who will fulfill all that He has promised. Come into the presence of the
Lord with thanksgiving and rejoice in Him always.

Lord, the worries and cares of this world sometimes overwhelm me so
that I do not see through them to the promise that You are working all things
together for good for those who love You. Guide me, dear Lord, that I would live
in the faith You have given me. Keep me from the wicked one and lift me up in
Christ’s image that I would learn and grow to become like Him forever.

Lord Jesus, You have come to lead
the way for all who have come into the gift of faith. Lead me, O Lord, that like
Thomas I can proclaim the truth that God is with me, for You are Lord of lords,
Keep me from straying that I would not worship any but you. You know what I
need this day. Thank You for providing all that is needed today and every day. Thank
You for your graciousness and love. Amen.

Devotion for Saturday, March 30, 2019

“O Lord, do save, we beseech You; O Lord, we beseech You, do send
prosperity! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord; we have
blessed you from the house of the Lord. The Lord is God, and He has given us
light; bind the festival sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar.” (Psalm
118:25-27)

What is the prosperity you seek?
Is it fame and fortune, which is fleeting, or prospering in the righteousness
that the Lord offers through grace? Do not be deceived by the wiles of this
world, but come into the Lord’s presence and seek what is right and good. Seek
first righteousness and then all things necessary shall be added unto you. Know
that the Lord’s love endures forever.

Lord, set me upon the right path that I would be led by the
righteousness You grant to those who come into the love relationship made
possible through grace. Lead me in the faith You have given me that I might now
and always abide in the truth of Your presence and purpose. Keep me from the
distractions in this world that would get in the way that I might grow in the
likeness of Christ and His righteousness.

Lord Jesus, Guide me this day in
the way of righteousness. Lead me to see more clearly all that You offer in
this gift of faith You have given me. Move me beyond the elemental things to
live into the eternal life given through grace. Teach me this day all that I
can learn that I would grow this day. Help me to see as You grow in me Your
image, Jesus, that I might prosper in the gift of faith. Amen.

Devotion for Friday, March 29, 2019

“The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief corner
stone. This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day
which the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:22-23)

Those who want it to be their
way have rejected the Lord. Rather than hearing the Word of truth, they
continue in their rebellion with an attitude of self-righteousness. It should
not be so among you. This is a day the Lord has made and He calls for you to
rejoice and be glad in it. All that the Lord does is good and righteous. He
invites those who will follow to come and know His goodness.

Lord, I often do not rejoice in the day You have given me. Guide me
away from myself and ever deeper into You. Help me through all the obstacles
that come my way that I may abide in You and You in me. You are the cornerstone
and the only hope through the mire of this wicked world. Lift me up to be with
You always that through You I may taste of the eternal life You offer.

Lord Jesus, You are the cornerstone which many have rejected. Yet I do not desire to reject You, but to live into Your likeness. Guide me this day in the journey of faith You have created for me that I may do those things which are pleasing in the Father’s sight. Help me, Good Shepherd, to know Your goodness and to be a willing sheep in Your loving hands. You are my Savior, save me this day and every day. Amen.

Devotion for Thursday, March 28, 2019

“Open to me the gates of righteousness; I shall enter through them, I
shall give thanks to the Lord. This is the gate of the Lord; the righteous will
enter through it. I shall give thanks to You, for You have answered me, and You
have become my salvation.” (Psalm 118:19-21)

The Lord has provided the narrow
gate which leads to righteousness through the grace of Jesus Christ. He is the
narrow way and leads the way for all who follow. God Himself is our salvation
and has come that we might have the life He intends for the faithful. Come
through the narrow gate and begin the journey which never ends. In Him is light
and the light is the life which leads to righteousness.

Lord, I have heard so many conflicting things. Help me, I pray, to come
into the life which You have created that I might understand more fully the
wisdom You grant to the faithful. Remove the obstacles that get in the way. Help
me each step of the way on the journey upon which You have placed me. You must
be the author and finisher of my faith for only You know the steps needed.

Lord Jesus, You are the door, the
gate, the way of everlasting life. You have come that we may drink of the
wellspring of the water of life. Guide me this day, Lord Jesus, in all the ways
You know I need to go. Keep me on the narrow way that I may grow in
righteousness and in Your likeness. I give thanks for all that You have done
for the faithful that we may become what the Father intends. Amen.
