Devotion for Thursday, August 02, 2018

“The north and the south, You have created them; Tabor and Hermon shout for joy at Your name. You have a strong arm; Your hand is mighty, Your right hand is exalted.” (Psalm 89:12-13)

In You, O Lord, is the hope of all the ages. You know the unfolding of human history, and all things are in Your hands. Lead my heart to see that although times and seasons change, the rebellion of humanity against You remains the same. Lead me to be one who lives in peace with You, the Creator of all things. You alone are to be exalted. Teach me to praise You now and always.

Lord, amidst the troubles of this world, teach me to give thanks for Your goodness and mercy. Help me to not be conditional, but praise and thank You in every circumstance. Lead me, O Lord, that I may walk in Your counsel and learn to praise You at all times. Guide my heart to move ever closer to You that I would do what is right and fitting at all times and in all circumstances.

Lead me, Holy Spirit, to walk humbly in Your counsel. Guide my footsteps to do those things which are pleasing to the Father. Never let me forget the grace which has been purchased that I may walk in the liberty You grant. In all that happens, teach me faithfulness that I would live according to the never-changing precepts spoken from the beginning. Guide me now and always. Amen.

Devotion for Thursday, July 26, 2018

“O Lord, why do You reject my soul? Why do You hide Your face from me? I was afflicted and about to die from my youth on; I suffer Your terrors; I am overcome.” (Psalm 88:14-15)

You have not rejected those who come by faith, yet there are times when You seem so far off. Lead those who believe, O Lord, far away from the place of doubt and fear to walk knowing that all things are in Your hands. Guide us into the goodness You have declared that those who are in You may unite in the goodness of Your presence. You are God and there is no other.

Lord, though there are times when You seem far off, lead those who are in You to walk humbly through this world that is filled with wickedness. Guide me, O Lord, in the way You would have me go. Empower me in those things I do for others to see Your hand at work. Lead me by the grace You have given that I may overcome all the moments of doubt to live boldly for You.

Lord Jesus, You expressed the anguish we feel when You were praying in the garden the night You were betrayed. You asked from the cross about the betrayal. Through Your example, You have shown the void that wickedness has brought upon the world. Lead me to see in You that there is always hope amidst the emptiness of this world and that all who come to You can share hope in the promised future. Amen.

Devotion for Monday, June 11, 2018

“I removed his shoulder from the burden. His hands were freed from the basket. You called in trouble, and I delivered you. I answered you in the secret place of thunder. I tested you at the waters of Meribah.” (Psalm 81:6-7)

We may not know it at the time, but the Lord is always there preparing the way for those who love Him. It may seem difficult and even impossible, but with the Lord all things are possible. He will weave together for His purpose all things and bring those who love Him to be with Him forever. Walk in the way of the Lord and know that He will bring about all things for His purpose.

In the twists and turns of life, O Lord, I often do not understand. Help me see that I do not need to fully understand, for You are the Sovereign One and all things are in Your hands. Guide me in the goodness of Your presence that I may walk humbly wherever You lead. Help me to trust You above all things knowing that all things are in Your hands. Guide me to live by the faith You have given me.

Lord Jesus, You came with purpose and fulfilled that purpose that all who believe might be forever united with You. Lead me this day in the truth You have revealed that I would humbly walk in the provision of the Father giving thanks for everything. Lead me by Your example to go where You lead and do what You would have me do. In You I have all the grace I need to walk by faith. Amen.

Devotion for Sunday, March 11, 2018

May the kings of Tarshish and of the coastlands render him tribute; may the kings of Sheba and Seba bring gifts! May all kings fall down before him, all nations serve him!” (Psalm 72:10-11)

If the nations would simply acknowledge that the Lord is God and bow before Him, the world would be at peace. See that the Lord is not looking for dominion, for it is already His. We strive for power that will never be ours. Oh that the nations would simply come into the truth and know that the Lord is good and desires that we live in peace. May they come and fall before Him that we may have peace.

Lord, I know this is the desire You place in our hearts and also how the world rebels against this. Help me to live in peace in so far as it is up to me. Keep me from warring against my neighbor and even when others do not bow to You, help me to be a witness of how things truly are. Guide me in the way of peace that I may live in harmony with Your will and Your ways.

Lord Jesus, it was no real temptation when the devil wanted to make you think that He was offering You the nations. All is Yours for You created all things. Let this simple truth resonate within me that I would hold fast to the truth You have revealed knowing that all things are in Your hands. Guide me to be at peace with all around me and not get caught up in the lies of this age. Amen.

Devotion for Wednesday, February 14, 2018

“Pour out Your indignation on them, and may Your burning anger overtake them. May their camp be desolate; may none dwell in their tents.” (Psalm 69:24-25)

In this world we often think in eye-for-an-eye terms. People hurt us and we want them hurt. Yet the ways of the Lord are good and right and fitting always, and this world is filled with sin. Those who go their own way walk on the wide road to oblivion. The appearance of prosperity will turn to a vapor with the passing of time. Only in the Lord is there a hope and a future.

Lord, I see things in the moment and forget not only Your promises but all of the good You have done for me. Help me, Lord, to see as You see and to know that all things are in Your hands and that You will provide over time all that needs to be done. In love, not anger, do You deal with us; for I too have been, at times, one who walked the path of desolation. Cause me to dwell in Your tents.

Lord Jesus, You call us to Yourself that we would walk with You, learn from You and become like You. You went to the cross, and yet it was not anger, but your love that shone forth. Lead me, O Lord, in the way I should go and then help me go that way, Guide me according to Your goodness to be lifted up into the way of thinking that would let me see Your hand at all times and in all things. Amen.
