Devotion for Thursday, October 11, 2018

“For You are the Lord Most High over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods. Hate evil, you who love the Lord, who preserves the souls of His godly ones; He delivers them from the hand of the wicked.” (Psalm 97:9-10)

Evil is anything against the Lord. Love the Lord above all things and rejoice in His goodness. Do not be deceived by evil, abhor it and flee from that which is not of the Lord. Be guided by His word. The Lord preserves the souls of the godly ones and those who turn to Him become as He is, good and filled with His love. The wicked will perish, but He will preserve the godly.

Lord, I am sometimes mixed up and there is both good and evil in me. Guide me, O Lord, that I may now and always walk in Your ways. Remove from me any rebellion that is in my heart. Lead me, O Lord, each day to walk in Your ways and flee from the hands of the wicked. You know those who are Yours. Keep me close to You always.

Holy Spirit, guide me so that I neither think more nor less of myself that what You would have me think. In this world which is mixed up, help me to navigate through it to do those things which are pleasing to the Father. Help me now and always to seek Your guidance and to be led by You alone who knows my coming in and going out and what needs to happen. May I serve with Your leading always. Amen.

Devotion for Saturday, August 04, 2018

“In Your name they rejoice all the day, and by Your righteousness they are exalted.  For You are the glory of their strength, and by Your favor our horn is exalted.”  (Psalm 89:16-17)

Do you call upon the name of the Lord?  Do you think of all the goodness He has lavished upon you?  The Lord has created all things and yes, the wicked roam the earth, but all are blessed because the Lord provides for all.  Lift up the name of the Lord and rejoice in His goodness and mercy.  Show others your thankfulness by serving them as the Lord has served you.  In Him is all goodness.

Lord, continue to strengthen my heart to rejoice in the goodness of Your mercy and grace.  Guide me in the way I should go and let Your presence in my life be evident.  Help me in every time of need to see Your purpose for my life and to live into that purpose.  Now and always, may there be praise of You upon my lips.  May I do what is pleasing in Your sight to accomplish Your will for me.

Lord, I need the guidance of Your Spirit to lead me throughout this day.  It is a mixed up world and things happen that cause me to be distracted.  Lead me, O Lord, in the way I should live this day that I would do what is pleasing in Your sight.  Help me now and always to be guided by Your grace and mercy and to do those things which are right in Your sight now and always.  Amen.

Devotion for Wednesday, November 22, 2017

“For Your lovingkindness is great to the heavens and Your truth to the clouds.  Be exalted above the heavens, O God; let Your glory be above all the earth.”  (Psalm 57:10-11)

Wherever you look you see the truth of the Lord.  His creation is evident in all of His works.  The detail and intricacy are there.  Deny some will, but the works of God’s creation speak of His goodness and the order He has set into place.  Magnify the Lord and see that He is worthy of all honor and praise.  Know the Lord who makes Himself known and see His goodness always.

Lord, I get caught up in the difficulties of this life and forget to simply step back and see the creation You have made.  Guide my heart to never forget that You are God and so far above my ways that I can only begin to comprehend.  Lead me, O Lord, to walk humbly before You, seeing all that You would have me see and walking according to Your never-changing will which You established in the beginning.

Lord Jesus, come down, You who became one of us, guide me in what You have taught the disciples throughout the ages.  Help me learn from You how best to walk each day through this world, filled both with the creation which You have made and the wickedness that has come because of sin.  Grant that I would have a discerning heart to walk humbly and trust in all of Your provisions.  Amen.
