“With which Your enemies have reproached, O Lord, with which they have reproached the footsteps of Your anointed. Blessed be the Lord forever! Amen and Amen.” (Psalm 89:51-52)

The enemies of the Lord look at the havoc they have brought upon others and then say to the Lord’s people, “Where is your God?” The Lord alone endures forever and the wicked have a small amount of time to plot their schemes. Trust in the One who is forever and look to the One who blesses. The Lord in His goodness has shown the way for the righteous to walk upright.

It is a confusing world Lord and there are many paths that may be followed. Yet, there is only one that is right and true. Lead me along the paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake that I may now and always walk humbly with You, my Lord and God. No matter what may come, help me hold on to You, for You are my strength and hope. May I learn to bless Your name.

Lord Jesus, You know adversity and yet You gave grace and mercy. Through Your example, help me also to live giving grace and mercy that I may live into the life to which You have called me. Thank You for what You have done. Thank You for including me in the call You give to live into the salvation You have prepared for those who will learn to love as You love. Amen.

Devotion for Thursday, July 12, 2018

“There is no one like You among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like Yours. All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord, and they shall glorify Your name.” (Psalm 86:8-9)

The world is impressed with what it invents and the things it imagines are powerful, but what are they compared to what You have created Lord? Heaven and earth are Yours, for You made them. The people wander in darkness, but You are light. You name is glorified because You are the author and finisher of life. Guide our hearts to praise You Whose work alone endures forever.

Lord God, though the world rejects You, You still give grace and mercy. You provide for the just and the unjust. Guide the hearts of those who are turned to You to live in the light of Your countenance that we may do Your works in the light of day and declare Your goodness. Let us not be forced to bow before You upon Your return, but to bow willingly now in humility and with thankfulness.

Lord Jesus, You have come into the world to share Your rich goodness and mercy with all who willingly turn to You. Guide me in Your grace this day that all I do would be a praise of You who has made eternity in glory possible. Lead me, O Lord, in the way You would have me go that I may now and always praise You for the goodness You have given amidst the evil of this world. Amen.

Devotion for Sunday, May 27, 2018

“He also delivered His people to the sword, and was filled with wrath at His inheritance. Fire devoured His young men, and His virgins had no wedding songs.” (Psalm 78:62-63).

The people rebel and the Lord withholds His hand of mercy and those who have wanted wickedness receive it. Why is it the Lord is blamed when He does not do what others want? It is not that He causes the wickedness, but that rebellious hearts are drawn toward the wickedness of this age. Come out from the way of the world to see that only in the Lord is there true peace and mercy.

Lord, there are times when I receive what was caused by others. There are times when I have been exempt from others’ wickedness. Guide me, O Lord, in the way You would have me go that no matter what comes, I would see Your hand of grace and mercy upon my life. In all things, may I look humbly and simply to You as the source of all goodness and kindness knowing that these things are not in the world except by Your hand.

Lord Jesus, You are the incarnation of grace and mercy. Lift me up in Your grace that I would now and always live in the truth You have revealed. Help me see the truth of Your grace and live it fully in every moment of my days. Guide me to hold fast to the truth You have delivered once for all that in You alone is the hope of all ages. We need to be saved from ourselves, Jesus. Amen.
