“My days are like a lengthened shadow, and I wither away like grass. But You, O Lord, abide forever, and Your name to all generations.” (Psalm 102:11-12)

The time in this age is short. If one thinks of eternity, the time is but a moment, the exhaust of a breath. Why do you strive for what is temporary? Why do you worry about things that are momentary? Come into the eternal presence of the One who made you and walk humbly before your God. Know that He knows all whom He has made and has called all to walk in His presence.

Lord, teach me the way of eternal life. I have the moments of time in this age with all of its difficulties, but You have promised that they have purpose. Lead me to walk the way You know I need to walk that I may now and always live into the life to which You are calling me. Guide me each day, for each day has enough challenges of its own. May I walk humbly before You always.

Holy Spirit, transform my heart that I would live into the life to which I have been called. Guide me, O Lord, that I may now and always live the life You have created for me to live. You know what is needed in every moment. Help me to listen to You and not be distracted by the noise and nonsense of this world. Lead me by Your grace in this age to become perfect in the next. Amen.

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!” (Psalm 91:1-2)

You, O Lord, are the solid ground upon which all hope can be built. You who made all things have given good and gracious promises. Your wing covers all the earth and You have provided all that is needed. Let me take refuge in You, the only One who is able to protect me from my enemies. Increase my faith that I would trust in You alone who is trustworthy. Abide in me as I abide in You.

Lord, through the storms of this life I often forget that all things are in Your hands. You provide for all and for Your purpose. Though I experience affliction, help me to see through the momentary things and come under the shadow of Your wing and find refuge. Help me to know that You are my strength and an ever present fortress. Teach me to love You as You love me.

Lord, You love us so much that You have provided all that we need to live through the storms of this life. Lift me up into Your presence that I would abide with You as You abide with me. Keep me close to You and teach me to keep You close to me. Help me now and always to rejoice in all the good gifts You give that I may become like Christ and be a faithful servant in Your kingdom. Amen.

Devotion for Tuesday, November 28, 2017

Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; set me securely on high away from those who rise up against me.  Deliver me from those who do iniquity and save me from men of bloodshed.”  (Psalm 59:1-2)

Sometimes this world is troublesome.  There are difficulties each day.  But the Lord, who knows all things, has us in His hands.  He knows the plans He has for us.  Yes, we have our difficulties, but to Him we should turn in every time of trouble.  It may seem dark at times, but He is mighty to save and will watch over us all.  The Deliverer has come and in Him all who trust will be rescued.

Lord, I hear these words, but in times of trouble I am often overwhelmed in the moment.  Teach my heart to trust.  Teach me to learn from You that I may walk through every moment in trust and confidence in the faith You have given me.  Guide me, O Lord, that I may be led by Your mighty hand to become what you have in mind.  Lead me through every valley of the shadow of death.

Lord Jesus, You know adversity and the plotting of evil doers.  Guide me in the way I need to go each day.  Teach me to lean on You through Your Word and by prayer that I may forever hold fast to the truth You have revealed for the ages.  Lead me, my Savior, today that I may walk humbly with You and know the goodness You have in store for those who walk by faith.  Amen.
