Devotion for Saturday, September 01, 2018

“You will not be afraid of the terror by night, or of the arrow that flies by day; of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, or of the destruction that lays waste at noon.” (Psalm 91:5-6)

There are things of the darkness that bring fear. There are the arrows of wickedness that flies around all the day long. There is the wastefulness of this age where people show no respect for the Lord or His creation. You need not fear any of these things, for the Lord is with you always and He knows His plans for You. Trust in the Lord above all things and know that He holds you in the palm of His hand.

Lord, amidst the fear that comes in living in this world, guide me in Your goodness to see through these things to know that You are there. Though things do and will happen, help me live in faith knowing that all things work together for good because of the love You have poured into my heart. Lead me, O Lord, and I will follow wherever You lead. Help me to learn to always abide in You.

Lord, You have provided the way of salvation. In You is the hope of all nations. In Your hands are the goodness and mercy that I need for this day. No matter what comes this day, help me to keep my eyes upon You. In times of trouble, help me trust that all things will work together for good. In You I have my hope and being. Lift me up, O Lord, that I may be faithful. Amen.

Devotion for Wednesday, April 4th, 2018

“You crushed the heads of Leviathan; You gave him as food for the creatures of the wilderness. You broke open springs and torrents; You dried up ever-flowing streams.” (Psalm 74:14-15)

The Lord God created all things and all things are in His control and under His power. Who can come against the Lord? Many try, but they will not prevail. Trust in the Lord of all creation and know that, now and always, all things are in His hands. He who holds the universe together and knows when a bird falls from the sky knows your needs and answers every prayer.

Lord, I sometimes feel lost amidst all the things of this world. All around me everyday things are happening that I do not understand. Guide me, O Lord, to see in You the hope for all and the truth of Your sovereignty. Guide me away from living in confusion and fear into wisdom by Your grace to know that You alone are God and there is none other who is able to hold all things together.

Lord Jesus, You are the answer for all who wonder,  for all who are afraid,  for all who look for meaning. You have come to show us the love of the Father that all may turn to You and be reconciled. Guide me this day to walk humbly with You, the One through all things have their being. Lead me now and always in the way of salvation which You have shown for all who believe.  Amen.

Devotion for Tuesday, February 27, 2018

“Do not cast me off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength is spent. For my enemies speak concerning me; those who watch for my life consult together” (Psalm 71:9-10)

Some will wait until you are weak to come against you. Do not fear, but trust in the Lord who has purpose for everything. He who watches over you is aware of every difficulty you will face. Yes, He will allow what He allows, but never think this means that He is not fully in control of every moment. Look to the One who created all things and know He who is faithful prevails.

It is hard in times of difficulty to know that you are there. My mind knows this, but my heart wavers. Guide me, O Lord, to look to You regardless the circumstances and grant that inner strength that upholds me despite the failing body of old age. Lead me regardless of the physical circumstances of this world to know that You are faithful in all things and at all times.

Lord Jesus, though young, You were led to the cross and made weak for all of our sakes. Guide me now and always to not be dependent upon myself or my circumstances; but to look to You and know that You will lead me through everything that will come. Help me overcome my doubts, and even when weak, live strong in the faith You have given me. Lead me to be ever faithful. Amen.
