“Jesus left the temple area and was going on His way when His disciples came up to point out the temple buildings to Him. But He responded and said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone here will be left upon another, which will not be torn down” (Matthew 24:1-2).
Yes, even the stones are now alongside, but not touching each other. Within the lifetime of many of those who heard these words from Jesus’ mouth, they witnessed the Romans coming in and completely dismantling the temple. The stones were thrown over the wall and they sat where they were thrown until now. Jesus speaks from what He knows. Will you trust the speculation of man or the words of the One who knows?
Lord, You have given us the words of eternal life. You have created all things and of course You know how they are and how they will be. I become confused by my own speculation. Lead me in the way of everlasting life. Guide me into the goodness and mercy of Your never-failing love in order that I would live the life You have given me to live. Show me the way You know I need to go.
Lord Jesus, help my unbelief. Guide me into the way of life that trusts You above all things. This world keeps telling me to have hope in the world. That hope is crushed time and again. You offer me true hope and life in spite of all that happens in this world. No matter what comes, help me to trust You above everything else. You know what is coming. Help me to heed Your words of truth so that the disappointments of this world will not hold me back from living a life of faith. Amen.
