“Sharp arrows of the warrior, with the burning coals of the broom tree.  Woe is me, for I sojourn in Meshech, for I dwell among the tents of Kedar!”  (Psalm 120:4-5)

Do you go to the places that will produce trouble?  Do you listen to things that will stir what is not right in your heart?  We live in a world filled with trials and troubles.  Pay attention to the environment of your ears and eyes.  Flee from what will bring out wickedness.  Know that the Lord will protect you but that you also need to do your part and stay away from places and things that are dangerous to your heart.

Lord, whether it is what I am listening to, what I see as entertainment or even walking on the streets, there are so many places that bring my heart to wickedness.  I do not even know all of the things that affect me.  Guide me out of the pit that I may come into the light of Your presence and know those things that are affecting my heart.  Lead me to meditate upon Your Word day and night.

Lord Jesus, You know this world and the places of corruption.  Guide me that I may stay away from what would tempt my heart to sin.  Lead me according to Your goodness to walk humbly with You this day.  Shield my eyes, ears and heart so that I may not fall prey to the wickedness that is in this world.  Lead me along the narrow road of righteousness for Your name’s sake.  Amen.
