“Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, “To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are at Colossae: Grace to you and peace from God our Father” (Colossians 1:1-2).
By the will of God: this is the truth of all who are walking in the light of Christ. For as many as come to the light, to them He gives the power to become children of God, born not of the will of the flesh, but of the Spirit. How is it we have become so enamored with ourselves that we think that we have anything to do with being saved? Walk in the light the Father has shone on you. Jesus alone saves us.
Lord, You alone are Lord. There is no other. You do not need my help to save me. Save me, Lord, according to Your will; for this is what You will. Guide me, then, and let me see how dependent I am upon You. Lead me to rejoice that You alone are God and that I need not participate in order to receive, but just accept the gift of grace that You give. Lead me, Lord, and teach me to follow.
Lord Jesus, You have come to save as many as come to the light. Guide me this day so that I may walk in the light of Your countenance. Guide me according to Your purpose in order that I would now and always be led by You and by no one else. Open my eyes to see, my ears to hear, and my mind to understand the goodness that shines in my life because of You. May I remain in Your peace always. Amen.
